Facebook Wants Users Vote on Its Privacy Policy Changes
Facebook has been a target of a lot of criticism in terms of privacy policies and many legal battles have been fought by Facebook on these grounds. The main aim however has also been to satisfy the users and keep them happy about their privacy on the social network. In order to do just that, Facebook has come up with the idea of allowing users to vote on changes in its privacy policies.
This idea has been purported by privacy advocates and Facebook had to agree under pressure. Around a billion users of the social network can vote on the changes they feel comfortable with. However, this has not been the first time that Facebook has shown such an open gesture toward its users. Back in 2009, there had been a similar case when Facebook claimed a userbase of just 200 million users – just as compared to its 1 billion today – when the social network asked users to decide through voting the kind of privacy policy they prefer.
Despite that 2009 open voting, Facebook has still not been able to manage itself in a good light when it comes to privacy issues online. Although, a fact is that any of the social media, whether it be of Google or Twitter, or for that matter, any other social networking site, privacy always matters and they have all faced a tough time giving privacy advocates enough reason to relax. You can go to your Facebook Governance page and give your vote. It is important that maximum number of users respond to it because the majority would then be able to share their opinion on what kind of privacy policy matters to them.
